Baptism

Baptism is one of the most important festive and spiritual experiences in the life of every Christian. In our church, it is carried out by immersion in water, which symbolizes our faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is an act of consecration and public recognition of our faith, which marks the beginning of a new life in Christ.

The process of baptism in our “Grece” church is a festive and solemn moment. It includes:

  1. Advance mentoring. Before baptism, new converts go through a training course where they discuss the basics of the Christian faith and the meaning of baptism.
  2. Baptism service. At a specially appointed meeting, usually on a Sunday, the candidates are immersed in water as a symbol of their participation in the death and resurrection of Christ.
  3. Prayer and blessing. After immersion, the pastor prays for the newly baptized, asking for God’s blessing and strength for their new life in Christ.

Baptism is an expression of our obedience and faithfulness to God’s commandments. It symbolizes the cleansing of sins and the renewal of the spirit, proclaiming our belonging to the body of Christ. Through baptism, we join the great family of believers, testifying that we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. It is also an act that helps to strengthen our faith and strengthen our spiritual life, because we confirm our determination to live according to Christ and His teachings.

Bible about Holy Water Baptism

As it is said in the Scriptures (Romans 6:3-11):

“Or are ye ignorant that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. 5For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection; 6knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin; 7for he that hath died is justified from sin. 8But if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him; 9knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death no more hath dominion over him. 10For the death that he died, he died unto sin once: but the life that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11Even so reckon ye also yourselves to be dead unto sin, but alive unto God in Christ Jesus.”

Admission to church membership

After baptism, new converts are officially accepted as members of the church at the nearest meeting. This includes a solemn ceremony where the church prays for their further spiritual journey. After that, new members become full participants in the life of the church, with the opportunity to participate in all services and events. This is a time of joy and unity, because we welcome them into our spiritual family, supporting and guiding them on the path of faith.
